It's Friday!

Another school week has passed and it is once again time for a weekend full of baseball! UCO plays Lindenwood University this weekend and some of the Mavs will be in town. I sure wish we could get all the Mavs, O's, and Hayes' up here! The weather is absolutely beautiful and I am so incredibly excited for summer... actually, if this weather keeps up I am just plain excited for the next few weeks. We have 5 weeks of Spring semester left! Yes, FIVE! woo hoo! But, I am not wishing my time away because I am so loving this Spring season. I do not have much on my mind today, just simply happy. :)

I am currently loving the spring flowers and the bright green grass. I want to plant flowers every where, luckily my mom is already doing that back home in Texas! Maybe I have caught the "flower fever" from her :). Thanks to Pinterest I have been dreaming up my own beautiful and big garden... It will have to wait until I have my own house, but a girl can dream right! Here are a few pictures that I am currently loving on Pinterest!

I hope yall have a great weekend. I will hopefully be back to tell you about the games and will have some pictures!

Fiona's Story

Today I was browsing my facebook feed which is full of many different rescue groups and I found a video that caught my eye. Every day there are many different videos or pictures of all different types of dogs that show up on my newsfeed, most are heart breaking, but this one was a story of hope. I watched the video and felt compelled to share it.

I wanted to share this video for several reasons, it provides hope, it shows love, and most of all it proves that it only takes one person to change someone's life. I am so grateful for all the people involved in this video. I am also so grateful for all of the people that do things like this every day and do not get recognized. Hearing stories like these remind me that we do live in a good, loving world.

Heavy Heart

Earlier today I had planned on writing a fun and upbeat post, then life happened... Today I received a message from my Gram and my dad saying that Bocefus had passed away. Bocefus is my Papa's blue heeler, he was his absolute best friend. In a post I wrote many weeks ago I talked in further detail about my Papa and about Bo (it was title "Admire"). Cancer took away yet another being that I love. I just do not understand cancer, it makes me angry, there is so much hurt in everything involved with cancer. I wish that it did not exist in this world.

You may be thinking that it's "just a dog" and there are many other things happening in this world that are worse. I know that, I know that this world is full of hurt and evil. But, if you have ever opened up your heart to the love of a dog you know they become so much more than "just a dog". They have a way of helping you cope with all the craziness in this world that we live in. Bocefus full of life and happiness. He truly had the spirit of my Papa, that is why they were best friends. I am heart broken for my Papa, I know he is strong and I know Bo's spirit will live on with us, but I can't help but be sad.

Bo Bo I am so thankful for the time that we did get to spend with you here on Earth. I will forever remember your sweet, loving, perfect spirit. You always wanted to be a lap dog... not sure if you understood your true size, I know Papa didn't mind though. :) Bo I am so thankful that you have been able to be with my Papa every day, you were the perfect companion and ranch hand. We will miss you Bo and will think about you often. I hope that you are running around under the rainbow bridge with my sweet Tessa. I know she was there to greet you, give her a huge for me.

our hearts for good bye."

Life Lessons

If you remember from my last post I mentioned that I was excited to read the book "Rescuing Sprite" by Mark Levin. I did read that... all if one day! :) It was a very good book, also very sad and real. Mark Levin did an excellent job of expressing his emotions in words. I felt like I was listening to him talk throughout the whole book. I also felt like I could feel the immense love he has for his family and dogs. If you are looking for a book to read that has meaning, this is it.

I wrote down several of the passages that stood out to me, so I thought I would share them. I entitled this post "Life Lessons" because I believe that dogs teach us many things about life and Mark Levin definitely pointed out these things. Some of these are simple, straight forward ideas that we should do daily, others are ones that I (or we) might not think about often enough.

  • "There is nothing like the loyalty and love dogs have for their families."
  • "Career and financial goals are important, material acquisitions are necessary, but taking stock in life's little pleasures is the most satisfying experience of all."
  • "Your family is the most important part of your life. It is your legacy and your immortality."
  • "Enjoy life."
  • "No time on Earth is long enough to share with those we love or to prepare our hearts for good bye."
  • "Dogs are the essence of love."
  • "The act of getting close provides joy."
  • "It is all worth it in the end."
  • "Appreciate the joy and love the present."
  • "Dogs provide the purity of earnest unconditional love, loyalty, and devotion that touches the core of our humanity."
  • "Dogs are selfless."
  • "Pets are the only creatures who give humans unconditional love. Your pet never yells at your, rejects you, tells you to go to hell, or argues with you."
  • "We are the lucky ones."

I think that we learn many things daily from our pets and from our loved ones. I hope to keep each of these life lessons in mind and to practice them. I think this book hit me particularly hard because I do have a pup that is up there in age and unfortunately have to realize that she is not immortal, even though I would like her to be. I also read this whole book with her cuddled up on my lap, which probably increased the emotions I was feeling. Anyways, I could go on and on about dogs I will spare you your time and end this post. :)

Dog Talk Tuesday

It is Tuesday and the first day of spring!! We also had our first big rainstorm of the season last night and today when the sun came out it was beautiful! Today my mom took the day off work to hang out with me, we decided to have a mini girls day. We started off at the new nail place up the road and each got pedicures! We then went to lunch and to a bunch of different little shops. We spent the majority of our time in half price books. I was on a mission to get cheap books that would help me study for the GRE, but I of course spent most of my time in the isle with dog books. Here are a few of the books that are on my dog book list... We picked up "Rescuing Sprite" today, I am excited to read it.

Anyways, these are a few of the books on my mile long book list.
I hope yall have a good first day of Spring!

Stormy Monday

It has just started storming here in Texas. Living in the country (ish) part of North Texas means that my tv will go in and out as well as the lights. Oh well,  I have my family and my pups here to keep me company. I actually like storms in the evening, unless it's summer and during the day no way jose! I love the sound of the rain and watching the lightning. However, I do not like severe storms so I am hoping that everyone stays safe!

Speaking of my dogs, Marley is curled up next to my feet because she does not like storms at all. She is the biggest baby, literally the biggest, 100+ pounds. Oh but I love her... It is now starting to hail, so I am sure she will start whimpering any minute. The other dog we have, Roxi, is the total opposite. She would run outside in the storms if we let her... We don't. Her favorite thing to do is bark at the thunder and run after the bolts of lightning... she may be a little crazy. I also have my little old lady pup, Jinx, who is 12 and the biggest worrier, so she is curled up in my lap. Wouldn't give those three pups up for anything. Love them so very much!

Tonight I had planned on watching the premiere of "Dancing With The Stars" and eating my mom's homemade chicken pot pie. I love coming home because it means my mama will cook some yummy food! I guess I will have to do with out my tv and just eat the chicken pot poe. I also might dive into one of the many books I am reading on my Kindle! Probably going to be number four of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich.

I am also being a little crafty... We bought some embroidery thread from Hobby Lobby Saturday and we are trying to follow a tutorial we found on Pinterest to make friendship ear buds.

So far the earbuds have turned out great, I however was unable to follow the complete instructions because I was lacking patience when I started this project so mine look a bit different. My sister's and Kaylee's earbuds look exactly like the picture though, they had way more patience than me. I will post pictures of the finished products whenever they are actually finished.

I also want to try to make a couple bracelets... Maybe like these from the  "Michael Ann Made" Blog.

Tori & Alex Are Married!

As expected it was a BEAUTIFUL wedding! Tori was an absolutely stunning bride and Alex was a very handsome groom. The wedding ceremony took place in Fort Worth at a very pretty church. It was an intimate, beautiful, and heartfelt ceremony. Tori walked down the isle to a beautiful song that had everyone in the room teary eyed, not to mention she looked breath taking. The bridesmaids were also gorgeous, Tori picked out very pretty and elegant dresses.

After the "I do's" and vows everyone was invited to the reception that took place off Vickery. The reception area had an inside part and an outside part, it was decorated with white christmas lights, pretty flowers, mason jars, and lovely center pieces that were each unique. There were two beautiful cakes, Alex's was Texas Rangers! There was very good tasting appetizers foods, drinks, and beer for all! I was also able to catch up with some of my good friends!

It was a beautiful wedding. I wish Tori and Alex the best. They are two of the sweetest and have an amazing love for each other and for life. Here are a few of the pictures I snagged... Remember I kind of suck at taking pictures and Cheryl Mav was not with me to make up for it!

Today was full of shopping in Flowermound with mom, Kaylee, and Kennedy. We pretty much shopped all day... it was a good day. I then ended the night playing a game called "Naked"(it is a version of charades) with the Davis-Tohlen family... Talk about a fun game and fun people! I also was able to see my Garlands! Lovely Saturday over here yall! Hope yall had a good one as well!

Here are a few of the I phone pictures I snagged from my sis from the wedding!

I dressed up yall... make up, heels, and well I didnt "do" my hair, but pretty good!

Spring Break

It is Spring Break and I am so excited! I made the trek back to Texas last night and have been happily lounging on the couch with my pups at the parents house. This year my break is going to be relaxed and consist of no traveling, which I am a bit bummed about. Last year I had the privilege of spending a couple days camping at Lake Murray with my grandparents, sister, and father. I then flew to Arizona and met up with Cameron, his parents, and his little sister. We watched cam play in a baseball tournament, enjoyed the Arizona sun, AND got to see a Spring Training game! I will show you some amazing pictures of that.

This break will not be filled with baseball, which makes me a little sad, but it will be filled with family! I will also refrain from thinking any tiny ounce about school and all the stress involved with school. Well, I hope everyone has a good break or weekend! I am off to get ready for my friends beautiful wedding! Congratulations Tori and Alex! I wish yall the best of luck and Tori you will be one of the prettiest brides! I will be back some time this week to update you about this years Spring Break!

Square It

I have stumbled upon another amazing group! It is a website called Hendrick Boards.
This is a group of people from California that started a business selling eco friendly skateboards and apparel. I am not a skateboarder so I will not be buying any skateboards.

But, what is really amazing about this group is that they decided they wanted to do more with the things they were selling. So in their shop they started a brand called Square It: Be The Change. The idea of this brand is to provide shelter animals all across the world with donations! Amazing! So with each purchase a percentage will go to a shelter. Every two weeks they have a special t-shirt that will give a 10 dollar donation. I think this is the coolest idea ever and I must warn my friends and family that for birthdays and Christmas you may be getting something like this. Because after all what can be better than giving to someone who is in need right?!

Go check out the website! The clothing is cute and comfortable (perfect combination)! :)

I Work Out (What!)

I am that person who absolutely despises working out, like really I hate it. I am trying to change my attitude about working out though... Slowly but surely it has to change right?! I have the P90X dvds sitting in my room collecting dust. I have an array of sneakers and work out clothes... I usually just wear those as my ever day attire.

I also have tons of motivational and inspiring people all around me. I have no excuse to not work out, but I always find random ones. But, I am going to change! Yesterday I ran for the first time umm I will just say in a lllooonnnggg time. I downloaded the Couch to 5K app and finally put it to some use. I have to say that I am proud of myself for not dying, but I thought I was going to the whole time. I am literally the worlds worst at motivating myself.

I creep follow tons of blogs, one in particular is called Six Sisters Stuff. Yesterday, coincidentally, they had a post entitled "11 Ways To Get You Off Your Bum and Run"! So, I read it and I then got off my bum and ran! Crazy idea... That's what I was thinking. But you all should read this... They are really an awesome group of sisters.

So these next days, weeks, months, I am going to try to think positively and do what is good for my body. I am going to use the motivation I get from the people around me to continue on my work out journey. Ally is a mother of 3 children under 5! Yes, she is a super human and she is also training for a half marathon. Oh yeah, she is also a wife and a full time 4th grade teacher. Yes, superwoman. If Ally (aka superwoman) can do it with 3 kids, a husband, and a full-time job I really have absolutely no reason to not try. So, thank you Ally for being your awesome self. I am going to use you as my inspiration!

I also love these pictures I have found on Pinterest.

I don't really believe this yet.. but it is a good thought!

I put this on my bucket list... ah!

Reality TV

Yes, I admit I am a reality TV junkie. I am not sure why I like to watch these crazy shows... But I do! Some of the crazy shows I watch include:

The Bachelor

GCB

Tori & Dean Home Sweet Hollywood

 Bachelor Pad

Oh, and anything on this channel!
(expect Hoarders and My Strange Addition... those are just too weird)

The Bachelor Finale is tonight... I will be recording it, I will be at Bible Study. I have not liked this season at all, did not like Ben or most of the girls. However, somehow the crazy show still pulled me in... Probably because it has been crazy and people like to watch crazy. There is also an amazing blogger that yall need to follow if you enjoy this guilty pleasure. Her name is Ashley, she was on Brad's season and she is HILARIOUS! Her blog can be found here... She updates about each episode and also write about her personal life. She is a pretty awesome lady.
