Operation Second Chance

Today is the first snow day of the year in Oklahoma... Yall it has seriously been snowing huge flakes since 9 this morning! Too bad it is not cold enough for any of it to stick and pile up, but I will take what I can get. I have been enjoying my snow day in my room with candles, TV, my pup, Cam, and writing a never-ending paper for one of my classes. I was watching Pit bulls and Parolees because it is the second best show on television... the first is Ellen.

Tia, the owner and founder of this amazing animal rescue was given the chance to visit the Gwinnett County Jail. At this specific jail they have started an amazing and one-of-a-kind program. It seriously gives me chills just talking about it, watching it was great.

It is people and programs like this one that give me total faith in humanity again. This program is called Operation Second Chance. This program saves the lives of dogs that are on "death row" in the local shelters. The dogs are saved from their imminent death at the shelters and taken to live and be rehabilitated in the jail. Each dog is placed with a specific inmate who will train them in the basic obedience. This not only helps the dogs, but also the inmate. This program is allowing the inmates to learn social skills and several vocational skills.

I encourage everyone to look this program up and read about it. I hope that this program spreads to every county jail in the nation.

This is just one of the sweet dogs that was saved through this program.... absolutely beautiful.
