What I forgot to tell you

A video of the beautiful beach and water because why not? I was reading my recap of our honeymoon... basically I was trying to make myself believe I was back at the beach while sitting at my desk... at work and I noticed that I had left out some important and funny details of our honeymoon. 

What I forgot to tell you...

• We almost died on a taxi... no really we decided it would be smart to just pay $1 and ride the town taxi instead of a real taxi. I don't have a picture of what these look like, but just imagine a truck with bleacher seats in the truck bed. Yeah so, we got on and we were the only white people and I felt totally fine until this guy with a long jacket got on. He had his hands in his pockets and just looked sketchy. Everyone moved away from him and he was mumbling under his breath curse words and things like "I kill yo mother". I felt like we were in the Bad Boys 2 movie with Will Smith and that funny guy... Jamaican accent and everything. Needless to say we didn't get on a town taxi again after that experience. 
• My husband passed out at 6 pm on the third night of our honeymoon. One too many pain killers and shots from the bartender and the pool bar will get ya! I had to walk him back to the hotel and he quickly passed out on the end of the bed. I decided to shower and I was interrupted when I heard him hurling his insides out! He is just lucky he made it out onto the balcony and we had left over pizza from the night before. Can't wait to tell that story to our kids. 
• Speaking of Pain Killers... that is one of the USVI specialty drinks. I don't remember what all was in it, but after one I was feeling pretty good and Cam had 3 that day as well as other drinks. 
• It is mandatory that you listen to Kenny Chesney on repeat while visiting the islands... specifically his Life on a Rock cd :)  

The Honeymoon

10 months ago Cam and I were in the beautiful US. Virgin Islands. Oh, how I wish I could be back there right now!

Our honeymoon was a bit up in the air until about a month before the wedding... I was thinking we would not have one because I was thinking I would need to be paying for it? Yeah, I am still as stubborn and independent as ever. Luckily I have two amazing in-laws they booked Cam and I an ocean front room on the beautiful island of St. Thomas! We stayed at Sugary Bay Resort which is located on the east end of St. Thomas. St. Thomas is one of three islands that make up the U.S. Virgin Islands and is the island that you fly into no matter where you are staying.

We left for DFW airport entirely too early in the morning and our taxi actually bailed on us at the hotel, but luckily Cory (Cam's brother) and Amanda (his now wife) were dropping off one of our friends and were happy to drive us to the airport! We boarded a plane to Charlotte, NC and then a second plane to St. Thomas. We arrived at the airport and were welcomed with shots of rum and vodka! Our bags arrived safely and we headed out to find a taxi to our resort. On the islands the taxi drivers are in a hurry and like to get you to your destination fast and you may get car sick. Oh, and you have to drive on the wrong side of the road! Our taxi driver took a back way through alleys and what looked like driveways and we ended up safely at our resort that was full of pretty flowers, trees, and greenery. We checked in and promptly went to check out the pool and ordered our first drinks, hurricane for me and a rum runner for cam.

Hers & His

That first night we watched the sun set from the beach and tried to figure out what we were going to do with all this time to ourselves! This was our very first time to vacation alone and Cam and I are not exactly the most extroverted people. 

I spent most of my time right here in that chair while Cam hung out under the tree in the shade or at the pool bar.

They do not bite, but I didn't ever want to chance it!

I really don't have a favorite part of this trip. It was so amazing and I can not wait to go back! We enjoyed every day and night on the islands. The locals were nice, the staff was great. The beaches were impeccable and that water... it is what dreams are made of! Other highlights of our honeymoon include

Our honeymoon was nothing less than spectacular. I am so blessed and grateful to get to do life with my husband!
