The Honeymoon

10 months ago Cam and I were in the beautiful US. Virgin Islands. Oh, how I wish I could be back there right now!

Our honeymoon was a bit up in the air until about a month before the wedding... I was thinking we would not have one because I was thinking I would need to be paying for it? Yeah, I am still as stubborn and independent as ever. Luckily I have two amazing in-laws they booked Cam and I an ocean front room on the beautiful island of St. Thomas! We stayed at Sugary Bay Resort which is located on the east end of St. Thomas. St. Thomas is one of three islands that make up the U.S. Virgin Islands and is the island that you fly into no matter where you are staying.

We left for DFW airport entirely too early in the morning and our taxi actually bailed on us at the hotel, but luckily Cory (Cam's brother) and Amanda (his now wife) were dropping off one of our friends and were happy to drive us to the airport! We boarded a plane to Charlotte, NC and then a second plane to St. Thomas. We arrived at the airport and were welcomed with shots of rum and vodka! Our bags arrived safely and we headed out to find a taxi to our resort. On the islands the taxi drivers are in a hurry and like to get you to your destination fast and you may get car sick. Oh, and you have to drive on the wrong side of the road! Our taxi driver took a back way through alleys and what looked like driveways and we ended up safely at our resort that was full of pretty flowers, trees, and greenery. We checked in and promptly went to check out the pool and ordered our first drinks, hurricane for me and a rum runner for cam.

This is the view from our room

Hers & His

That first night we watched the sun set from the beach and tried to figure out what we were going to do with all this time to ourselves! This was our very first time to vacation alone and Cam and I are not exactly the most extroverted people.

I spent most of my time right here in that chair while Cam hung out under the tree in the shade or at the pool bar.

These iguanas were every where... all day long.
They do not bite, but I didn't ever want to chance it!

Sugar Bay Resort... We were on the right 3rd level

This is Mermaids Chair... the only way to get to it is to swim

The Daydreamer was the catamaran we rode around on

Honeymoon Beach

Overlooking Cruz Bay

Woodys- the bar Kenny Chesney frequents

Breathtaking views while driving.

There were 4 people on this beach including us
the other man saw a shark not 7 feet from the shore... I stayed right on the edge!

I really don't have a favorite part of this trip. It was so amazing and I can not wait to go back! We enjoyed every day and night on the islands. The locals were nice, the staff was great. The beaches were impeccable and that water... it is what dreams are made of! Other highlights of our honeymoon include
sleeping in
snorkeling the beautiful islands-
we saw stingray, tons of pretty fish, sea turtles, and a beracuda!
visiting Coki beach and Coral World
Cruising St. John in a jeep
Beach hopping... sometimes we were the only people on the beach!
finding out I do in fact like fried shrimp!
drinking pina coladas like they were water
eating at Woody's- the restaurant Kenny Chesney frequents
Learning about the history of the island from the Captain and Crew on the Daydreamer
Eating a huge lobster (Cam, not me) at sunset
spending 7 whole days with my husband!

Our honeymoon was nothing less than spectacular. I am so blessed and grateful to get to do life with my husband!
