week 27
Baby: Cambree is the size of a rutabaga or a head of cauliflower. She is practicing inhaling and exhaling with her lungs and they are continuing to develop for life outside the womb. She is now showing brain activity and her brain is getting more complex. She is about 13.6 to 14.8 inches and 1.5 to 2.5 pounds. She moves all day long until someone wants to feel her move. She must be a little shy like her mama. Cam usually watches tv at night with his hand on my belly. He just loves her so much already. She is sleeping and waking at regular intervals and opening and closing her eyes now.
Weight: I didn't weigh myself this week, but we go to the doctor at week 28.
Symptoms: Indigestion and acid reflux have started to bother me most evenings. I haven't had to sleep sitting up yet, but it is definitely more annoying to deal with when trying to go to sleep. I do not have stretch marks yet, but boy can I feel my stomach and well everything stretch.
Sleep: This is being interrupted by acid reflux, but once I am asleep I stay asleep for a few solid hours before having to switch positions. I am, and always have been, a side sleeper and my shoulders and hips get super sore if I sleep on one side too long. My three pillow system is still working pretty well. Griffey has figured out that my pillow I use in between my knees is usually at the right place for him to use as well. Each morning or in the middle of the night I have woken up to find his sweet little head on the edge of the pillow. He is not spoiled. at all.
Cravings: I can't say I have had any real cravings still. I am ready for the Valentines Pillsbury cookies to come out though!
Clothes: I have officially outgrown all things that are or resemble jeans. I haven't bit the bullet and bought maternity clothes, but I did pick out some new leggings and tops to wear with them. I have never been a big fan of spending money on clothes, so shopping is just rough. I am going to be on the hunt for baby shower outfits soon and I do believe I need one pair of jeans, but we shall see what I find.
Random: We went to Canton Trade Days last week and I found some goodies! We also walked around forever and I wasn't as tired as I had expected to be! I am still very thankful to be feeling so great throughout this pregnancy.
week 28
Weight: Woo wee we went to the doctor this week and I was right at 115 pounds. That puts me up 15 pounds and I have not yet decided how I feel about that. I don't dwell on the weight situation as I know it is for the baby and as long as I am healthy and she is healthy that is all that matters. But, with that being said there is that little fear in the back of my mind that screams each time I step on that scale. I was told my goal weight gain is 25 pounds so I still have ten more to go and about 11 weeks left... I am sure I will be going over that 25 pounds and that is ok too.
Symptoms: Acid reflux has been a killer. I have tried sleeping propped up and not laying down after I eat, but it is still there and I am just learning to deal with it. Back pain has started this week. I don't think my body frame knows what to do with this belly and extra stuff. I often have to sit in weird positions and sometimes I even hold my belly up with my hands to help my back feel better. I have pretty regular braxton hicks and can tell when I need to drink more water. My iron chewable pills do not make me sick, thank goodness! They do not taste the best, but I try to take them with my vitamins and then drink a bunch of water. I noticed some swelling around my ankles and feet on Saturday, but it was after a long long day of lots of walking at the If Conference, which was amazing and I hope to write a post on just that soon!
Sleep: I haven't slept the best this week. I usually take forever to fall asleep and then wake up 2 or 3 times throughout the night and have trouble falling back asleep so when my alarm goes off in the morning I am on the struggle bus. My back is more sore at night and one night this week my diaphragm was so sore that I almost gave up on trying to fall asleep. I keep reminding myself these are little problems and I could have it much much worse so I remain thankful for this healthy pregnancy and healthy baby! The woman's body is capable of crazy things.
Cravings: Nope, still not any specific cravings.
Clothes: This is the same as last week. I have started to worry about what on Earth I am going to look like come short wearing weather, which actually is today here in north Texas. The highs are in the 70s this weekend as well, but I will stick to my leggings... I wouldn't want to blind anyone by my white legs!
Doctor: We went to the doctor this week and we are now officially there every two weeks! How did that happen?! It was a quick visit as everything is right on track and there are no concerns. I was told to continue taking my iron pills and prenatal vitamins. Cambree and my stomach are measuring right on track and she is a big fan of kicking every time the doctor puts the doppler on my stomach to hear her heartbeat.
Random: Cam finished the plank walls and now it is up to me to finish painting! I am super excited and ready to see that room come together. We have all of our showers planned and I can't wait for those. This little girl is so loved by so many people already. In non baby related news... Cam came home with baby goats! Two of them to be exact. They are about 2 weeks old and are Nigerian Dwarf Pygmy mixes. He is loving them and it has been fun to watch him be #camthefarmer . He has officially put his first bottle together all by himself, as the goats are bottle fed three times a day right now. So yes, Cambree you will be coming into a world of pure craziness and love!
